Students will receive their teacher assignments by email by the first week of January. At that time you will also receive further details regarding your scheduled day and time for student orientation. Please call the Lower Primary office at 2812-5410 (Nikki Adams) and 2812-5412 (Liza Chan) for appointment times if you have not received your teacher assignment email by the second week of January.
School Hours
Reception 1 (R1) has a half-day option based on geographic area and a long-day option. Students residing on the south side of Hong Kong Island attend school from 7:55 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and students residing on the north side of the Island and Kowloon attend in the afternoon from 12:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Students in the long-day option and Reception 2 (R2) attend from 7:55 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. while students in Grades 1-2 attend from 7:55 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
School Uniform
Lower Primary school students wear uniforms which consist of navy blue bottoms (blue shorts, blue jeans, blue skirt, etc.) and red or white collared shirt with the HKIS emblem. Shorts and shirts can be purchased from the Dragon Shop (Campus Store - opposite the High School Cafeteria), or you can provide your own and purchase from either campus a sew-on HKIS emblem. Most shoes are fine. However, for safety purposes, clogs and sandals without a heel strap, and shoes with roller-wheels are not allowed. It is recommended that your child wears athletic shoes for designated PE days.
Lunch Program
All students must bring their own lunch on a daily basis. Reception 1 half-day students eat lunch at home.

Parent Faculty Organization (PFO)
All parents of newly admitted students will be contacted by a Parent-2-Parent Mentor, who has been chosen based on your student's grade level needs to answer questions about HKIS and, if needed, living in Hong Kong. You will also be invited to the New Parent Coffee sponsored by Parent-2-Parent Mentor Program, a committee of our Parent Faculty Organization (PFO). The PFO will be contacting you directly to advise the date and venue. You won’t want to miss it!
