In our Upper Primary School, we continue to nurture and integrate the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills developed in Lower Primary.  Students also further their studies in mathematics, science, social studies, Chinese, music, physical education and Christianity.

Students are encouraged to think creatively and work together to find the answers to problems.

Students use technology regularly as a learning tool.

Students are encouraged to develop their interests and talents in the arts.

Students continue to learn about Christianity through study and participating in Chapel and religion classes. They also learn about other major world religions - Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Judaism - as part of their social studies units.

Each year students at Upper Primary are involved in a wide range of service projects. These have recently included Heifer International, which raises funds for poverty-stricken families in China through the gift of animals. UP students have also helped victims of earthquakes in eastern China and the hurricane in Myanmar.

Students, faculty and staff had their heads shaved to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Foundation of Hong Kong as part of this year’s St. Baldrick’s Day celebrations. In all, US$85,000 was raised by HKIS!
