A WEEK OF THANKS!

During this week of thanks, the Annual Fund Committee would like to thank you, our HKIS community, for your amazing support of the Adopt A Tree campaign. What a wonderful way to give back to the school that has given so much to all of us. Happy Thanksgiving!

To date, 129 Tai Tam Tiger soccer players have come together – quite literally, as evidenced by the picture! – to adopt tree #343 at the entrance to the HKIS pitches. Thank you to all of the Tigers who have contributed, creating a legacy for future soccer families, who will enjoy the shade of the lovely tree as they watch their Tigers take on rival football clubs. As everyone who watches the Tigers knows, their success is in large part due to the incredible teamwork of all the boys and girls. Clearly, this teamwork ethos is embraced by all of the Tiger community, parents and players alike. Thank you to all who have supported the campaign and helped organize this undertaking, with special thanks to Catherine Kim, John Powell and all of the Parent Reps.

Please be sure to mark Monday, December 4 at 5:00 p.m., on your calendar for the 3rd Annual HKIS Tree Lighting at the High School Atrium. Let’s kick-off the holiday season with hamburgers and treats, as well as festive performances by our amazingly talented school bands and choirs.

If you would like to adopt a tree, the campaign remains open until December 4. Please visit hkis.edu.hk/tree, select your tree and proceed to payment. By adopting a tree, families are contributing to the HKIS Annual Fund*. Your support is critical and greatly appreciated.

MANY THANKS!

As our Adopt A Tree campaign enters its final three weeks, we continue to be humbled by the stories of people coming together to adopt a group tree, support HKIS and create a legacy for future generations. This week, 23 families from the ninth grade decided -- over WeChat, no less! -- they wanted to give back to the school that has given so much to their children. They organized, visited hkis.edu.hk/tree, debated the perfect tree and finally settled on a beautiful one in the MS Amphitheater. What a wonderful way for entire families to show their unified backing of HKIS. Thank you!

By adopting a tree, families are contributing to the Annual Fund*. The HKIS Annual Fund helps to attract and retain the finest teachers in the world, develop and expand academic and extra-curricular activities, and maintain and enhance the school’s infrastructure. Community participation in the Annual Fund matters, and your support is critical and greatly appreciated. Many thanks! If you haven’t joined a group tree or adopted your own tree, there is still time. Our campaign remains open until December 4.

Speaking of Monday, December 4, please join the Annual Fund Committee at the 3rd Annual HKIS Tree Lighting at 5:00 p.m. at the High School Atrium. We will kick-off the joyous holiday season with hamburgers and treats, as well as holiday performances by our talented school bands and choirs. Please join us as we celebrate the season and thank our community for its amazing support of the Adopt A Tree campaign. See you around the tree!

THE "HOOD"
The Adopt A Tree Campaign is going strong thanks to you, our HKIS community. To date, 130 trees have been adopted! Groups are coming together to adopt trees and show their support for HKIS and its Annual Fund. Case in point: Seven 9th grade boys, aptly nicknamed “The Hood” for their Brotherhood-like friendship, have been friends since R1. One of the boys moved to Toronto last year, two left for boarding school, four remain at HKIS. To honor their friendship and the school that brought them together, they adopted a tree outside the MS cafeteria where the boys used to hang out every lunch break. Their friendship remains strong today, and now they know that for generations to come, they can visit their tree and reminisce about the wonderful times they once had there. You too can create an enduring legacy like the “Boys in The Hood” by adopting a tree at hkis.edu.hk/tree. Select your individual or group tree and proceed to the payment process. It’s that simple.

By adopting a tree, you are donating to the HKIS Annual Fund*, which helps fund teacher salaries, scholarships, arts and athletics programs and many other areas within our amazing school. Don’t delay. The Adopt A Tree Campaign remains open until December 4.
