Chinese Dance and Drama (LPS)

Chinese Dance and Drama (LPS)

Course Description

The purpose of the course is to provide opportunities for students to engage with Chinese Language and increase self-confidence and foster a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. The course will combine two aspects, dance and drama.

In the first 8 weeks of the course, the students will be introduced to songs and corresponding dance moves. With this knowledge and some support the group will design performances to demonstrate their learning, and parents will be invited to watch.

The last 8 weeks of the course will focus on Chinese drama. We will adapt some stories and the children will work together to perform. Again, we will invite parents to watch the children's performances in their last class.

Music brings joy to our lives and it can also enhance learning, especially for children who are learning Chinese as a second language. In most cultures, children are introduced to language through songs. With the addition of dance children will deepen their understanding and make greater connections with the language.

Drama is a perfect way for children to understand the stories and the inspiration of life.

Children are inquisitive and are drawn to stories that capture their curiosity, imagination and allow them to express their creativity.
