Families are required to set up a SchoolsBuddy account prior to registration day and become familiar with the platform. For help setting up an account contact help@hkis.edu.hk.
Aquatics Instant Booking Registration opens up on December 7, 2023, at 12 noon.
Registration Steps:
1. Log in to your SchoolsBuddy account before the registration on December 7th at noon to make sure your account is working. New families, please set up your SchoolsBuddy account in advance. Use help@hkis.edu.hk if you need any help.
2. Go to Dashboard - Available Signups - 2023-2024 Aquatics Academy Term 2.
3. Select Aquatics 2023-2024 Academy Term 2
You will be able to view from 1 to 5 swimming groups available for your child based on their grade and swimming level. The groups are scheduled on different days of the week and at different times. Parents of siblings will see groups available to all their HKIS R1 - Grade 8-aged children at the same time.
Important - families will only be able to view groups your child is eligible for. For example, a student of Grade 4 who completed Level 4 will be able to view LTS Grade 3-5 Level 5 groups on different days, as well as G3-4 Water Polo. Another example, is a student of Grade 1 who completed Level 1 will be able to see only G1 Level 2 groups.
4. Make your group selection by clicking the box. You can select more than one group per week. Confirm your selection.
5. Make a payment for the groups you have selected. Please read ASA Terms & Conditions before making payment as fees are non - refundable.
6. You will receive a confirmation from the SchoolsBuddy confirming your child’s booking.
Registration tips for families:
- Set up your SchoolsBuddy account in advance and get familiar with how to log in and with the dashboard.
- Check the ASA schedule in advance and make a plan before registration day for what activities you would like to choose for your child. The schedule for all activities will be available on the Activities webpage.
- If you have to register more than one child at the same time, set the priorities or use two laptops as some groups fill up fast.
- Once you confirmed your desired group(s), please know that the place in the program is not guaranteed unless the payment is successful.
- There are no priorities for registration. However, as new students have no swimming levels, the screening sessions to test their swimming abilities are organized before, during, and even after the registration. Thus, Aquatics Academy reserves a few places for new students.
- Use Waiting Lists Google Form if your child didn’t get a place during registration. Aquatics Departments make an effort to accommodate as many kids from the waiting list as possible by adding coaches or re-arranging groups. We also might offer you an alternative day/ time.
Should you have any questions please contact us at swim@hkis.edu.hk for after-school and/or Saturday swimming-related questions, and at aquatics@hkis.edu.hk for general questions about the aquatics program, curricular swimming, and swim levels.

Screening for new students and returning students without a swimming level:
Those in Grades 1-8 who are new, or returning but without a swimming level, are in need of one to register for Aquatics Academy programming. This is done to determine swimming ability and water confidence, thereby ensuring they are placed in the appropriate group. Registration for screening will be organized using the SchoolsBuddy (SB) registration platform. Please set in advance your SB account in order to register and contact help@hkis.edu.hk if you have any difficulties with your account. Only registered students will be accepted to screening. Please read more info for new families here.
Screening for returning students who already have a level is not offered due to logistical challenges. If you are interested in your child attending after-school swim lessons, please register him/her with their current swim level. The Aquatics staff tests all ASA swimmers on the first day of ASA lessons and makes changes in a grouping when appropriate.

Dismissal and Daily Procedures
Lower Primary
It is vital that any changes to transport or planned absences from the programs are communicated in advance. This information enables us to safely transition students from the classrooms to the swimming pool, and then to the desired mode of dismissal at 4pm, which includes: Bus, Private Car, Walker, or a 4pm ASA.
During the registration process your child's default 4pm transport will be recorded for dismissal. That means unless your child is a registered Walker, their 4pm bus will be recorded as the default 4pm dismissal. You will need to use the link below to change the dismissal mode if your child has a 4pm ASA to attend on the same day, or you need to pick your child up at 4pm.
Any requests to change your child's mode of dismissal at 4pm should be submitted via the centralised "4pm Change of Transport request system" at least 48 hours in advance.
Upper Primary
Students in Upper Primary will be advised as to what ASA programs they have each afternoon, as part of their 3pm dismissal procedures. Details will include the class venue, and the teachers and teacher assistants will help direct students to the correct venue each afternoon.
Upper Primary After School Care
All Grade 3-5 students registered in a 4:00pm class will automatically be registered to attend ASC. By completing the form, you may withdraw your child if you prefer them to depart at 3pm and return for their class.
