This learning experience is specially designed for educators who conduct meetings, serve on work teams, site councils, decision-making groups and faculty committees. Site-based and district leadership teams are encouraged to attend.
Prerequisite is completion of the four-day Adaptive Schools Foundation seminar.
Cost
HK$4,000 per head
Morning and afternoon refreshments are provided each day, together with lunch.
Overview
Learn how to build collaborative professional cultures that improve student achievement. This practical leadership institute immerses you in a supportive and stimulating seminar environment to explore the latest findings in developing strong professional learning communities that share collective responsibility for student learning.
In this 4-day workshop, participants will develop:
- An increased capacity to initiate, develop and sustain high functioning learning communities.
- An expanded repertoire of practical facilitation tools.
- New lenses and tools for working with conflict.
- Skills for modeling and teaching patterns of professional inquiry.
- Templates and tools for teaching collaborative group skills to others.
Speakers
Carol Brooks Simoneau
Carol Brooks Simoneau, EdD, graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in elementary education. She earned a Master of Science Degree with a Reading Specialist endorsement and an Educational Administration and Leadership endorsement from Kansas State University. Carol earned a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Leadership from Kansas State University.
Carol has over 20 years experience as a teacher and reading specialist with students of all ages. As a reading specialist, she modeled instructional strategies in the classroom and worked with students in intervention programs created to prevent reading failure. She has also chaired or served as a member on many school improvement and accreditation teams designed to develop school community and facilitate achievement. Carol has received the Kansas State Department of Education Distinguished Educator Award. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Staff Development Council.
Carol provides Cognitive CoachingSM and Adaptive Schools training. She is the author of A Facilitator's Guide to On-line Professional Development: Establishing Communities of Learning and Cultures of Thinking.
TIna Howle
Tina Howle has been involved in the coaching community since 2003. She has been an Adaptive Schools Training Associate since 2011 and a Cognitive Coaching Training Associate since 2012. Tina works as the Director of Professional Learning for Loudoun County Public Schools in Loudoun County, Virginia. She has built the capacity of many educators with the coaching work. Tina has worked with school divisions, school boards, and numerous teachers, administrators, and educators throughout her career.
