The HKIS Equestrian Team is currently looking for riders to join our Lower Division Team. If you are in Middle School or Upper Primary and aged 10-14 years old, can canter, jump and love riding, please contact team coordinator Liz Leung Lumsden at HKIS.firstname.lastname@example.org before October 1. 2017
The team competes in the HKEF Inter-School Equestrian Challenge, which is currently the largest equestrian competition for youth in Hong Kong. From 12 riders from 3 schools in 2007, the competition has grown to over 120 riders from over 20 schools in 2016. The challenge gives Hong Kong students a chance to represent their schools in equestrian sports and encourages them to improve their riding skills alongside their team members and peers.
Last year, our school Higher division team placed 4th overall and Lower Division team placed 6th overall among 20 schools. We have also won the individual 5th place in show jumping and have won numerous rosettes in the warm up shows.
The competition season will start in November 2017 with the Final competition is scheduled on April 20/21, 2018. There are 2 Inter-school Competition Days, plus the Final should we place high enough. Riders should ride regularly on their own schedules, plus we schedule several pre-competition lessons once the horse-selections have been announced. This is not a heavy commitment and riders may participate in other HKIS Teams at the same time as the Equestrian Team.
