School Fees
HKIS School Fees
The fees involved in applying for a place at Hong Kong International School and subsequent entry to the appropriate School Division and entry-level, include the following: Application Fee, Entry Fee, Annual Tuition Fee and Annual Capital Levy.
School Fees
Reservation Deposit
A Reservation Deposit equal to the student's initial semester fees (includes Tuition, Capital Levy and Entry Fee) is required at the time of acceptance.
This Reservation Deposit is credited to the total annual school fee amount. Enrollment becomes final only after the school has received the full Reservation Deposit.
The Reservation Deposit for new students are only refunded if the school receives written notification of a student’s cancellation within 10 calendar days after the payment due date or before the Semester commencement date, whichever is earlier. This deadline is strictly adhered to.
The Reservation Deposit paid each semester is not transferable to another student, sibling or semester.
NOTE: The Entry Fee of HK$15,000 is a ‘once only’ fee for New Students, and is not charged in subsequent annual fees. This entry fee is not applicable to a student returning within 2 years.
Capital Levy
All students participate in the school’s capital funding by paying an annual capital levy of HK$20,600 which is payable in two installments. The capital levy helps to support financing for the upkeep and maintenance of school buildings as well as redevelopment projects, new acquisitions, and other major facilities improvements that enhance facilities and programs for the benefit of current and future students.
1:1 Laptop Program
HKIS students participate in a Bring Your Own MacBook (BYOM) Program. All Grade 6 to 12 students are required to bring an Apple Macintosh laptop to school each day.
The Apple Macintosh laptop must meet the following HKIS minimum laptop specifications:
- Apple M1 chip or faster
- macOS 12 (Monterey) or later
- 8 GB RAM memory
- 256 GB solid state drive (SSD)
- In addition to the MacBook, you will also need a USB-C to USB adaptor from Apple
-
Students will also require access to a personal Apple ID to keep software up to date.
Application Fee
An application fee payment which is non-refundable/non-
Payments can be made by credit card via the online application.
Acceptances are based on student space availability at the time of the student’s intended enrollment.
Debentures
Parents and Sponsors may participate by purchasing non-interest bearing debentures. HKIS now issues three types of debentures:
-
Family Debenture: HK$3 million
A family may use this debenture to support multiple children from the same immediate family. Summary and application included below. -
Standard Corporate Debenture: HK$3 million
Corporations may use this debenture to support one child’s application. Summary and application included below. -
Comprehensive Corporate Debenture: HK$5 million
Corporations may use this debenture to support multiple children from one family. Summary and application included below.
Debentures are NOT mandatory. In all cases, a debenture alone does not guarantee admission to HKIS, as children must meet HKIS’s admissions requirements.
Debentures retain their value and cannot be sold. Only the Family Debenture can be transferred, and only to the purchaser’s children or grandchildren. Holding a debenture places qualified applicants to the top of the wait pool.
Please contact Ms. Jean Yong at debenture@hkis.edu.hk for further information.
