From Classroom to Olympic Stage: HKIS Student-Athletes Shine
What does it take to become an Olympian while excelling in school? At Hong Kong International School (HKIS), students are proving you don’t have to choose.
The Study International feature highlights two standout alumni — short-track speed skater Sidney Chu and swimmer Jamie Yeung — who both rose from HKIS programmes to represent Hong Kong at the Olympic Games. Their journeys reflect years of disciplined training balanced alongside rigorous academics, supported by a school culture that treats sport and learning as complementary, not competing pursuits.
With significant investment in facilities like the new Dragon Centre for Activities and Athletics, HKIS continues to strengthen this philosophy — creating an environment where passion, performance, and purpose come together to shape well-rounded individuals ready for the global stage.
