Home to the Dragons, HKIS is proud to have a competitive sports program where student-athletes can explore new sports and develop lifelong skills of teamwork and sportsmanship. The Athletics program begins in Middle School and follows the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. The program fosters a passion for sports and resilience in a supportive team environment. HKIS endeavors to provide a positive team environment where student-athletes will build community, camaraderie, and belonging.

Different sports are played in different seasons throughout the year to allow students to participate in multiple sports. Student athletes will learn, practice, and compete with the support of qualified coaches.

TOURNAMENTS

Student-athletes have the opportunity to compete in local tournaments in Hong Kong and travel abroad to participate in tournaments hosted by other international schools.

HKIS is currently part of local leagues for regular season games (HKSSF/ ISSFHK) for both High School and Middle School. In High School, athletes also participate in international leagues (China Cup/ APAC/ JPAC/ Invitational Tournaments) for tournaments throughout the school year to provide an all-around season.

Tai Tam Campus
Student Activity Center

In the 2024-25 school year, HKIS will open a new Student Activity Center on the Tai Tam campus on the opposite side of the sports field. This state of the art sports and activities facility will house P.E. and health classes, athletics training, after school activities, and local and regional sports competitions. The facility features two gymnasiums, a 25-meter swimming pool, four rooftop tennis courts, a fitness center, a golf simulator, and specialty studios for dance, martial arts, spinning, and rock climbing.
