Registration Deadline: Monday, August 30, 2026

Overview

Day 1: Introducing Word Origins

Be one of the first to learn about the NEW resource from UFLI: Word Origins. In this workshop, you will learn how words are built, where they come from, and how their meanings have evolved across time and cultures. Educators will explore how English, shaped by layers of global influence, is grounded in meaningful word parts that offer powerful clues to understanding. Participants will learn how to help students recognize patterns, make connections, and independently unpack unfamiliar vocabulary. This workshop will equip teachers with an approach that transforms the way students read, spell, and make meaning.

Day 2: Implementing UFLI Foundations

UFLI Foundations is an explicit, systematic approach to teaching foundational reading skills, grounded in the science of reading. In this workshop, participants will explore how to effectively implement UFLI within a structured literacy block, including lesson design, instructional routines, and available resources. Through modeling and practice, educators will unpack the program’s carefully sequenced lessons and eight-step routine, learning how to build student accuracy, automaticity, and confidence in decoding and encoding.
